Alcoholism & Alcohol Abuse Help
"Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism."
Excerpt from the AA Preamble
Alcoholics Anonymous is a world-wide 12-Step program and support system designed to give participants the tools to overcome alcoholism. Alcoholics Anonymous is the great granddaddy of all of today's 12-Step programs, having been the very first of its kind. Its steps, principles and traditions translate, across the board, to combat any type of addiction - whether that addiction be physical or mental. Multiple addictions can often be treated by beginning with the alcohol problem and as the participant comes to be more aware of what drives them they can see how other problems have manifested and deal with their causes as well.
